Hi! My name is Kim Lloyd and I am the Special Education Teacher here at Two Rock Elementary School. This will be my second year teaching, and my second year at Two Rock Elementary School. For over 20 years, I have worked with children and families in a multitude of settings including: after school programs, summer camps, elementary school classrooms, tutoring centers and in the outdoors as a trail naturalist.
I graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Studies & Planning and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University. More recently, I obtained an Education Specialist Teaching Credential and an M.S. in Special Education from Dominican University of California. My graduate research study was on the benefits of integrating arts education in special education classrooms.
I grew up in a small town called Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains and came to Sonoma County to attend college. I have an older brother and younger brother. My husband, Dylan, and I live in Petaluma and have 1 1/2 year old twin boys, Miles and Harrison. We also have a dog, Caesar, and two cats, Maurice and Cooper.
As a Special Education Teacher it is my goal to create a respectful and safe learning environment where students can think critically and make real-life connections to the subject matter. I also ensure that my classroom community is one where my students can find a real sense of belonging and feel safe. I see teaching as a proactive position that benefits the young minds and spirits of our community. I believe that providing a solid education for all students is the key toward building a stronger, healthier community.
